Newsletter, What's Fresh

What’s Fresh-Week of January 15th, 2018

It’s already two weeks into the New Year, and if you are trying to start it off right by eating better, we have plenty of great produce to help with that!

If you need greens for your dinner salad we have all you need! Apples and beets from Mt Erie Gardens right here in Anacortes, Kale from Jonquil Farms, from Frog Song Farms we have lots and lots of white salad turnips, oyster mushrooms, parsnips, beets, purple cabbage, honey delicata squash, and fresh yacon.

Moondance Farms has brought carrots in a rainbow of colors-gold, purple, and orange along with two types of kale- purple and curly green. Also from Moondance-purple cabbage, parsnips, beets, shallots, Danish squash, and dried beans.

We also have some sweet organic pomelos , eggplant, yellow, orange, and red peppers, and Arcadian petite leaf salad greens for just 3.94 a bag! Both of these items are a great value, and we do our best to make sure we are competitively priced. Come on in and look, you may be surprised to find that our prices are lower on many items than other places you shop! We also carry items that are hard to find anywhere else in town, such as farm fresh eggs, raw milk, local fresh pasta, and produce varieties the grocery chains usually don’t have.

Don’t forget about our Valentine Cooking with Your Sweetie class coming up on January 28th, it’s free and it’s going to be a lot of fun! http://www.anacortesfoodcoop.com/events/

Beautiful, Serenity Thomas

We are excited at the Coop to bring you yet another way to contribute to your community. We are starting Serenity Sundays, which will be the first Sunday of each month. Five percent of proceeds on that day will go to a local charity chosen by our Coop members! If no charity is chosen, proceeds will go into the Coop’s food stamp match fund. Serenity Sundays are named for Serenity Thomas, an Anacortes resident and high school student who passed away in 2015. She was well known and loved in the community, and we are proud to honor her memory in this way. http://www.anacortesfoodcoop.com/about/supporting-community/serenity-sundays/

We are still running our contest in the store, so members, come on in and spend 50 dollars or more to be entered into our drawing for a whole month of 10 percent off on your purchases in February! Please remember that you can always park next door at the Mexican restaurant if our street parking is full, they have told us they don’t mind! We look forward to seeing you all this week!
