What’s Fresh- Week of May 7th, 2018

Hello Coop family! Look at all that gorgeous sunshine out there! Farmers Market season is in full swing, which means we’ve got great produce for you in the store! Our local farmers really know how to grow healthy and gorgeous food. This week, we have a lovely bounty for you! From Keith of Mt Erie Gardens in Anacortes we have Rhubarb, bags of young fresh pea sprout shoots and beautiful fresh bags of salad greens, from Hedlin Farms in LaConner we have some cauliflower, red beets, shallots. From Jonelle of Jonquil Farms we have some lovely Russian Kale and John DeVries of Living Rain Farm has brought us some Gorgeous Asparagus and Rhubarb. Ray, Tim & John of Ralph’s Greenhouse, Skagit Valley have some more of their wonderful Yukon Potatoes, Red and Green Cabbage, Golden Beets, Radishes, Green and Purple Cabbage Raab and Collard Greens. We are so lucky that Frog Song Farm has more fresh Yacon for us, along with some parsley. We also have Leeks from Well Fed Farms, and Georgie of Willowood Farm on Whidbey Island has brought Purple top Turnips, Celery Root, and Sweet Crunchy Watermelon Radish. From John of Dahlia Depot we have Spicy and Mild Microgreens. From Jacob & Amy of Boldly Grown Farms in Skagit Valley we have Red Onions, and Billy of Moondance Farm in Acme, WA has brought Yellow Onions, Parsnips, Orange Carrots, Yukon Potatoes, and Sunflower Sprouts. We also have organic produce delivered by Charlie’s Organic Produce in Seattle we have Trumpet Mushrooms, Romaine, Washington Bibb Lettuce, Parsley, Cilantro, Brussel Sprouts, Green Onions, Zucchini, Ginger, Turmeric, Green Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, Yellow & Orange Baby Sweet Peppers, Cucumber, Broccoli, Garnet Yams, Avocados, Tomatoes, Bananas, Washington d’Anjou Pears, Washington Fuji Apples, Washington Pink Lady Apples, Lemons, Tangelos, Ataulfo (Honey) Mangoes, Ruby Grapefruit, Pomelos, Navel Oranges, and Fresh Blueberries and Strawberries!

We have several events coming up this summer at the Coop! On the 27th of May at 2pm we have Tie Dye and Ice Cream for 25 dollars! Come on down for some ice cream and dye a shirt or a tote bag! More info here http://www.anacortesfoodcoop.com/events/  Also in June we are doing another cheesemaking class, it filled up quickly last time, so register soon if you know you want to come! In July, we will have a class on cooking with local berries as well. As we gear up for summer, we will have many festivals and events going on all season. The Coop has a great location, as we are far removed from the congestion and parking woes created by the events we all enjoy, so you can shop without any worry of finding parking or being stuck in tourist traffic.
